We've had two Knit-Flix gatherings since my last post. First was one at the start of June. We watched a favorite from my youth, Wild Hearts Can't be Broken, the romantic and inspiring based-on-a-true-story bio-pic about Sonora Webster, a horseback high-diver from the Depression era. We had carnival themed treats like lemonade and funnel cakes. Some ladies even brought already fished scarves to donate!
After taking a couple months off over the summer, we reconvened in late September. This time we met at my friend Cosette's house and watched the lesser known, but dependably delightful Jane Austen film, Persuasion. We had some Autumn style treats: caramel corn, shortbread cookies, frosted pumpkin cookies, and some warm apple cider mixed with non-alchohlic Glögg. (And if you don't know what that is, go to Ikea and buy some! Really. Do it.)
It has been awesome seeing everyone's projects taking shape. At our last gathering, I came really close to finishing my second scarf to donate, just requiring a few extra hours of knitting on my own to reach a good length, cast it off and weave in the ends! It is so rewarding to look at that finished project, especially hoping it will make someone cozy this winter!
