About Knit-Flix Network

  • Who We Are: We are a group of friends and neighbors getting together to knit scarves for charity while watching our favorite movies.
  • Who We Help: We are just getting started as of May 2016! Scarves we knit over the next several months will be donated to the Warm Welcome Coat Drive held by the International Rescue Committee in September 2016. After that, we hope to also work on afghan blocks to donate to Warm Up America, and continue knitting scarves throughout the winter to donate to whatever charities we find.
  • Why We Do This: Millions of refugees are being affected by crises in many countries throughout the world. Driven violently from their homes, they are often forced to leave most of their belongings behind, including extra protective clothing like scarves and hats. Each year about a thousand refugees are relocated to our great state of Utah where we are based, and quite frankly, it gets pretty cold here! This is only one small way we have chosen to make them more comfortable in their new home. We love to knit and we want to help, and those two things are a natural fit with this project!
  • What You Can Do: Check your closets for spare yarn, get some friends together, watch a fun flick and knit! If you don't know how, find someone who can teach you or simply google the thousands of how-to videos on the internet (that's how I learned!). Teach more friends to knit and grow your group. Find out what local charities collect items like knitted scarves or afghans and donate what you make. Get creative!
